Who Do You Think You Are?

In the episode which aired February 29th, 2012, I helped noted Danish author and humanitarian, Hanne-Vibeke Holst, learn about part of her family. Hjalmar Bertelsen was born 1897 in Hallund, Denmark and immigrated to Chicago in 1928. You can search ChicagoAncestors.org, keyword "Bertelsen" to learn more and to see where Hajlmer lived.

Hanne-Vibeke was delighted to find a family connection to another journalist and writer.

In the 1940s, the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy railroad began giving its company archives to the Newberry Library. Hidden in these archives were thousands of negatives created for a book project to celebrate the company's centenary in the 1950s.
